Frobulator: An Experimental Stereo Modulated Filter and Delay Effect
Frobulator is an experimental stereo modulated filter and delay effect that offers a unique sound experience. Unlike traditional echo boxes, Frobulator combines time and frequency domain processing to create a distinct audio effect. One of its standout features is the "FAIL" mode, which introduces chaotic variations driven by an iterative map. This mode is perfect for adding an element of unpredictability to your music when it feels too harmonious and predictable.
Whether you apply Frobulator to live audio input or connect it with other music apps like GarageBand through Inter-App Audio or Audiobus, the possibilities for creative experimentation are endless. The app also supports Audiobus state saving and provides IAA host transport controls for greater convenience.
It's worth noting that Frobulator is muted by default when using the built-in microphone and speakers on your iOS device to prevent feedback issues. If you're not getting any sound output, simply press the mute button. Additionally, you can disable the automatic muting feature entirely from the iOS Settings.
Please be aware that Frobulator does not offer an Audio Unit extension. Unfortunately, porting the underlying technology to the AUv3 environment is not currently feasible. While this may be disappointing, Frobulator and its companion apps will remain limited to their current state until IAA is phased out. However, there may be future alternatives that arise to fill the void left by their departure.
